I am a member of the Jacksonville Herpetological Society. Most of our rescues will be adopted by members of the Jacksonville Herpetological Society that have the experience to care for reptiles and will give them a good forever home.  We at Reptile Rescue of Northeast Florida truly admire those who dedicate time out of their lives towards helping reptiles (whether lizards, snakes, or turtles). As many people know, a healthy reptile requires a specific diet and a habitat unique to its natural environment. This not only requires a lot of time and money, but also involves having a wide range of knowledge dealing with reptiles which we feel truly shows your dedication.

Reptile Rescue has a Class lll permit through the Florida Fish & Wildlife. We do not have permits to keep Prohibited Snakes and Lizards (See list below). We have been keeping and caring for reptiles for over 22 years. If you have a reptile that you no longer want or can no longer keep, we will give it a good home with proper feed and care. These reptiles are sometimes offered for adoption to a good home only after they have been with us for a period of time so we can determine that they are eating well, disease free, and what their temperament is. There is sometimes an adoption fee for a reptile that covers the cost of keeping the reptile and any other expenses that have occurred. The adoption fee is nonrefundable, if you decide to return the reptile to us. Please make sure you research any reptile that you would like to adopt so that you will be able to care for it properly.  They are different from keeping furry pets. We will be more than happy to answer any questions about keeping a reptile that you have. Please check out our care sheets for the reptile that you would like to adopt. We are always here to answer any questions you may have.

Any donations or adoption fees we receive are used solely for caring for our rescues; food, vet care and housing. We are also in need of tanks and any reptile supplies that you would like to donate. We also offer long and short term boarding.

We do not deal with alligators.
Alligators are only handled by Florida Fish & Wildlife.

Persons with concerns about an alligator may call the toll-free Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR (866-392-4286). Generally, an alligator may be deemed a nuisance if it is at least four feet in length and the caller believes it poses a threat to people, pets or property. Florida is the alligator's home and if they are not endangering anyone please leave them alone. Any alligator moved by a trapper will be destroyed!
